LEARN-TO-PLAY HOCKEY

8 Week Sessions

Hockey 1, 2, & 3

Saturdays at 9am

 

 

 

HOCKEY 1 CLASS

HOCKEY 1

This 8 week class teaches skating for a beginner skater.  Players will learn the fundamental skills of ice skating, with advanced gliding. The skaters learn how to use the inside edges of their blades and one and two foot movement forward and backward.

     Saturdays at 9am

  • One 60 minute lesson per week
  • Skate rental
  • Teacher Evaluation on 7th week of class
  • Certificate of Completion

​Equipment Needed

Helmet, gloves, shin pads and a stick are required (We have equipment to use temporarily)

 

Advancement requirements include mastery of gliding, edge work, and 1 and 2 foot F/B movements

 

Next Progression---- Hockey 2

HOCKEY 2 CLASS

HOCKEY 2

Players will master proper hockey position (body) and stick handling positioning in this 8 week segment. Players will focus on edge (inside and outside) control and confidence. Proper forward skating stride and technique will be taught. Basic puck and stick skills will be introduced.

     Saturdays at 9am

  • One 60 minute lesson per week
  • Skate rental
  • Teacher Evaluation on 7th week of class
  • Certificate of Completion

Equipment Needed

Full Gear is Required

 

Advancement requirements include mastery of proper hockey position, edge control, and forward skating stride along with the ability to utilize those skills while pushing a puck.

 

Next Progression---- Hockey 3 or CPHA (Dependent on time of year)

HOCKEY 3

HOCKEY 3

Players will focus on continued development of the forward skating stride. Tight turns, forward crossovers and hockey stops will be taught. Backward skating, c-cuts and edgework will be introduced. Advanced puck and stick skills will be introduced.

     Saturdays at 9am

  • One 60 minute lesson per week
  • Skate rental
  • Teacher Evaluation on 7th week of class
  • Certificate of Completion

Equipment Needed

Full Gear is Required

Advancement requirements include mastery of tight turns, crossovers, edge work, and hockey stops along with the ability to shoot, pass, and stickhandle while moving.
